End of the month already!

Don't know where this month has gone but we do have some progress to show. My studio has gone from

To

Now I just need some electricity, plaster and a bit of paint and we will be up and running. Notice how green the bush is above compared to when we started?  There has been a huge amount of rain which is now holding us up.

As I can't really use my sewing machine I have been doing a stitchery that appealed from a Favourite Crafts Magazine No. 18.

I thought it had a really nice message as you never really know what you are going to get each day! It is good to sit quietly and listen to what is going on around. Don't laugh when you see my version below.

There is a bit of unpicking to do. Stitchery was never my strong point (new glasses have helped) but as it is going to be a cushion cover, my back will be on it most of the time … LOL. Hopefully I will have the finished product to show next month.

Till then stay well

New Year

Hi all,

Well my new years resolution is to update my blog once a month at least …. nearly breaking it already. I know it has been one year and 7 months since my last post, how time flies.

Because I have moved everything has been packed and I have not been doing any printing or sewing over the last year. I now live out in the “sticks” which has been very peaceful and I don't think I will ever be able to live in suburbia again! The good news is the the old Chook Shed is going to be my new sewing/screen printing room. I am so excited!

So looking forwards to unpacking everything and getting back to normal. I do have a long list of things I want to do.

With all the horrible weather we have had over the last few days the year can only get better! Till the next update, stay safe and I look forwards to showing you my latest projects.

Butterflies, Apples, Pears and Planets!

Hope you have all enjoyed the long weekend and have been creative.  The break over Easter was a great time for me to do some things I have been trying to do for a while.  A case of so much to do so little time.  So here is what I have been up to.

My first planet block. So now I need to get that sketch book out again to work on the rest of the space range.

Because I have been doing a stall on Sundays at the North Lakes Market (the weather was fantastic Sunday) I wanted to have something for mums & girls as I could not take the disappointment on their faces when they realised it was all boys previously.  So a sketch I had of apples & pears became my new Tea Towels which I am very pleased with.  I can see some place mats being made out of this too.  Because it is not gender specific I am sure that the males out there will like it too. What do you think?

I was not sure if my new butterfly blocks would please the girls but the response yesterday proved that I have it right. As they said, how cute.  I can see some T Shirts with this on it too.

I will be at the North Lakes Markets next Sunday then every 2nd Sunday after that.  I will list the dates on my Blog and would love you to come and say hello.  It is such a nice spot by the lake and so family orientated including the four legged family members.

Hope you have all enjoyed the long weekend and have a good week.

Till the next post stay well.
Regards,
Debbie.

Soothe Your Soul

Hi everyone,

This is more for Karen from Soothe Your Soul.  Karen has net curtains in her massage/reflexology room and we decided that her logo printed on some white material would be the perfect way to hem them.  I have tested my new red on this as it is the perfect color to match.  So one lot down and another to go.  Then will come the  hemming!  Karen has given me a wonderful massage followed by reflexology on my feet today so I am feeling very relaxed and that is what I am going to do for the rest of the day.  Catch you all later.

Market Day

Hello everyone,

I finally had my first market day, how exciting!  Jessica from Scrappy n Happy was kind enough to come and look after the stall for me as I was next door doing my ENJO stall.   The North Lakes Market had a big launch day yesterday.  While it was very windy (as per normal) it was a lot of fun for everyone including the stall holders as the entertainment and children getting their faces painted was quite amusing.

The bright colors attracted a lot of kids.  Do you see my new T Towel on the right?  I am really pleased with this and will put a better picture up when I get some decent light.

MooMummy who won the give away has not contacted me with her details so if I don't hear from MooMummy by the 20th of April EST I will redraw the give away on the Thursday 21st April.

I will have more exciting news to share later in the week. So until then have a good week.

Regards,
Debbie

The Hiatis is over ..... GIVEAWAY

Hi everyone,

It has been some time since I last blogged, October in fact! Illness and other problems have been keeping me away but we are back on track now.

My SIL Jessica from Scrappy n Happy has donated a quilt that she made out of my printed blocks and some of the dyed material to Quilts for Queensland. It was set up so they could give a quilt to some of the people that lost everything in the floods. Jessica has done a fabulous job. Check her blog out for more pictures as this is only the back!

To celebrate my return to the “blogging world” I have decided to do a giveaway of some of my hand printed blocks and dyed material.

4 of my cute Round Car Blocks each 7”x7”
3 pieces of my hand dyed material in Green, Yellow/Orange & Blue each 15” x 24 ½”

So somebody will be getting $32.00 worth of hand printed product for FREE!

To enter you need to be one of my followers and leave a comment. I will be picking the winner randomly on Wednesday 16th of March 2011.

You can purchase too but if you are in the draw for the giveaway you might just get them for free. If you are interested in making Scrappy n Happy’s quilt you can contact Jessica and she will be happy to give you some information.

I am busy drawing up my space range, lots of stars, planets & a rocket or two. So can’t wait to start printing those. There are a few more things I am thinking about but there are just not enough hours in the day.  Will be busy at the sewing machine this weekend so may have something to show next week.

I look forward to hearing from you all. Remember you have to be in it to win it!

Regards,

Debbie

This does not happen very often!

 Hi all,

Here are the latest photo's or our new dog who is now called Duki.  Trust me he is not this quite most of the time but how cute does he look.  The word NO has featured in the house over the last week and he is starting to get it.  So tonight he has been very well behaved although he was extremely tired as you can see.  Funny we are extremely tired too.  How long does the puppy stage last?!  At least he has not done too much damage yet but I am very sure if he was in the house by himself it would be trashed!

Time for bed,
Catch you all next post
Deb.

Life changes

Hi all,

Well life has been a bit out of control for a few months, partly because of my new job and our Chewy finally had to go to sleep after 14 years and it has made a big impact on our lives which we did not expect.

But......
today this little rascal (on the right) called Marmaduke arrived.  He is a 4 month old border collie with a lot of energy and it was really hard to get this photo because he has the attention span of a flea as the saying goes.  There is going to be a lot of training not sure if we will be doing it or he will be doing it on us.  We were going to shorten his name to Marty but I think he might be more of a Duke!

So life goes on...... can't wait to get back into the sewing and Scappy n Happy has really inspired me to make some of my own coasters.  I think it is a fabulous idea to make mini quilts as there really is not enough time to make everything we want.

Until next post hope you all stay well.

Colors of nature

Well I have been doing a lot of gardening lately and not much sewing.

As you can see I have found some interesting things in the garden and do they smell bad which means the flys really like them.  I thought they where some kind of carnivorous plant but the Carnivorous Society tell me they are just fungus.
I was taught you should look to nature for idea's on how to mix colors and I can see how orange/brown and the black/red looks good together but it does not make these any better.

Is anyone else finding weird things like this in their garden?

Looking forwards to getting back into the sewing room and sharing some more things with you.

Until then stay well.
Debbie.

Ready to go for the Fete

Hi everyone.  After reading some of your posts it looks like we are all sleep deprived at the moment.  I know the warmer weather is helping me, things dry much quicker.  I had to include a picture of the product ready for my nephews fete as it looked so nice all packaged up.
So now it is over to the customers so we can raise some money for the school.  It has given me some great ideas so I can see some new products coming up...... but some catch up sleep first!  Bye till next time.

Would this encourage the dishes to be dryed?

Are these Tea Towels cute or what!  These are for my nephew's school fete so I am hoping that they will be very popular with the boys and help mum and dad out too.  Do you think it will work?

My background is not working!

Hi everyone,

The change with the "cutest block on the block" has not been kind to me so it must be time for a change! Is anyone else having a problem?

Busy, busy & more BUSY!

The week has continued to be as busy as the weekend. Here are pictures of what I have been working on in-between printing more car blocks and stripped material to send out. I can only give you a sneak peak of the back as it looks like it has grown hairs, there are so many threads I still need to take care of!

I still want to do some more quilting. I can see bright yellow, maybe with a touch of silver, stitching on the headlights

My sister-in-law Jessica made this wonderful quilt using the car blocks and some of my dyed fabric. I am always waiting for Jessica's next post so I can see what she has done. There are always fab things to see on her blog.

I will be putting more information up later this week with pricing of the items for sale so stay tuned. Till then keep warm and stay well.

What a busy weekend

Well I have been busy all weekend doing screen printing and trying to finish the two quilts I am quilting. I have been fortunate enough to have someone offer to do some marketing and hopefully sell my blocks which will be fantastic. So I have been busy printing. In between I have been quilting madly so that I have some finished product pictures to show too.

I have found a new use for my ENJO outdoor glove. I had some gunk on my screen that was not coming off no matter what I did, I decided to get my Enjo glove out. What harm could it do? I was surprised at the amount of ink it took off so will use it more in the future, oh and yes it did get the gunk off too!

My new ENJO addition is the Lint Glove. I found that this gets the fibres that are stuck in my cutting board out so really please with that too. It is also good to take the threads off the fabric before I print. I don't think it will go back into the house at this rate!

Well will get on with the pressing and cutting and then some sleep so I can go to work. Will have some more pictures in the next couple of days.

Till then stay well.
